The Summer Series is designed with something for everyone! This can include; ITP students and graduates, those who are working hard to achieve success with the EIPA, BEI or NIC, as well as RID certified individuals needing Professional Studies CEU’s (in the form of PINRA’s)! In an effort to support these individuals, CCSLI presents their annual Summer Series! All of the below sessions total 28 hours of training (only 20 hours can be used toward your PINRA’s) but are being offered as one incredible low priced package!

“ASL Chat with Deaf Language Mentors”– EVERY Monday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM PDT (California Time) June 10 – July 29, 2024 (Total of 14 hours)

“Expand Your Knowledge” – EVERY Wednesday
from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM PDT (California Time) June 12 – July 31, 2024 (Total of 7 hours) Topics discussed will include: “Interpreting in Academic ASL- How?”, “Use of Numbers in Academic ASL”, “Legal interpreting Ethics –
Application In Practice”, “Community Interpreting Ethics – Application in Practice”, “Interpreting Idiomatic Expressions”, “Medical Interpreting
Ethics – Application in Practice”, “Cultural Mediation – Impact of Deaf Culture on Decision Making”

“Refining Our Work” – EVERY SATURDAY
from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM PDT (California Time) June 15 – Juley 27, 2024 (Total of 7 hours) Topics discussed will include: “Approach to Interpreting Constructed Dialogue in ASL”, “Interpreting Process Spotlight: Realizing Semantic Intent”, “Pre-Controls to Prepare for ASL-English Interpreting”, “Interpreting Process Spotlight: Determining Semantic Equivalent”, “Working with the CDI – How?”, “Speak Out With Confidence”, “Healthcare Interpreting – Am I Ready?”

Randy, a Texas native, is a certified interpreter (NIC, BEI Master) For the past 20 years, Randy has enjoyed interpreting in mental health, educational, medical, legal, and conference settings.

He started teaching interpreting in the Houston area in 2006 and currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of ASL & Interpreting Studies at the University of Northern Colorado.

Tony graduated from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) - with a degree in Educational Interpreting.

With over 30 years interpreting experience, he has worked in medical, legal, community, theatrical, VRS, VRI, and educational settings. He achieved his NAD V (Master Level Certificate). He is a founding member of the committee that established and implemented the BEI interpreter rating system in Michigan.

Shiloah's career spans twenty-three years and includes; educational interpreting, K-12, post-secondary, medical interpreting, Community freelance, national VRS, VRI,
international and governmental interpreting.

She joined CCSLI INC in 2017 as an Interpreter Trainer and Mentor and continues interpreting to this day.

Ronald is a RID/NAD Certified Deaf Interpreter, and Deaf Heritage speaker. He has accumulated a diverse portfolio in many fields in the role of a CDI in the medical field, as well as at state conferences, and sight translation.

In 2019, he trained at the Protactile from Deafblind Interpreter Institute. Up to today, he continues to practice his profession as an CDI for the Deaf community in the medical field, as well as at state conventions.

Lamar graduated from RIT with a Bachelor of Science multidisciplinary degree in Psychology/Sociology/Deaf Studies.

Lamar is a Nationally Certified Deaf Interpreter
with over 20 years experience as an instructor. This experience includes,but is not limited to ASL Deaf Studies at SUNY, NY and at Holyoke Community College, teaching Interpreter Ethics, Medical and Legal training.

Instructor: Dustin Yaeger BA:

Dustin is a native user of American Sign Language and as a result, he brings the important perspective of being a Deaf consumer of interpreting services.

He has worked as a translator in New York on projects that provide Deaf access to education in ASL. He holds a bachelors degree in English and is a member of the Conference of Interpreter Trainers. In addition to teaching ASL, for the past 5 years Dustin has worked as a Deaf Interpreter and Interpreter Mentor.
